That's pretty cool. I don't know about DAWGS or endling (I'll have to look him up later) but I think this looks pretty cool, has a lot of personality to it. I don't know why Regless would claim you have no talent, I mean like you said you were just screwing around with the concept, not trying to claim it as your own, more of an homage really, and my opinion is you didn't do a bad job of it, but judging from your response it seems like you might know the guy so whatever, that's all I have to say on that.
